After 18 days with no football, Paulton Rovers make a welcome return to Winterfield Road on Saturday when they host Shortwood United in their latest league fixture.
With the inclement weather conditions of late and continual postponements, Rovers manager John Rendell revealed the challenge of keeping the players fitness levels up ahead of very busy schedule:
"With the lack of games in recent weeks we have been varying the training keeping the lads focused and fitness levels up.
We approach Saturday with a full squad and everyone extremely eager to get back in the zone of playing football matches. We now have 14 games in seven weeks which gives us a chance to start consolidating consistency levels and building up points on the board"
And despite some inconsistent league form, the season is far from over for John and his staff:
"We have the semi final to look forward to which very much keeps the season alive so I am looking at much improved performances (and results) in the league starting Saturday"
The visitors, Shortwood, sit one place and one point above Rovers in the league in 17th place but do have the second worst defensive record in the league, shipping 78 goals in their 28 games compared to Rovers' 49.
The form guide doesn't read great for either team with both earning 1 win in the last 6 so without doubt both teams will be pushing for the 3 points!
As always your support is crucial and greatly appreciated by the Team!
