On Saturday afternoon, we make the trip down the M5 to the home of Willand Rovers for another important Southern League Division One fixture.
Our hosts currently sit in 10th place in the league on 23 points. They have had a season of two halves so far; spending much of their time during the first twelve games at the top of the table. Since then their form has slipped somewhat, losing four of the previous six fixtures whilst winning one and drawing the other. Their losses include games against Frome, Wimborne, Malvern and Bristol Manor Farm; all of whom are going through particularly strong runs themselves and so the sudden drop down the league may not be that indicative of the way they have been playing.
A study of the form guide actually comes as a pleasant reading for Rovers' supporters. We currently sit in 9th place of that guide having won three of the previous six fixtures. Whilst the guide doesn't tell the full story, two good wins in the last three fixtures should see some confidence returning to the squad. Our previous fixture with Willand at The Winterfield Stadium saw us grab a narrow win with a late David O'Hare strike.
Martin Lenihan will miss the trip as his suspension begins after his sending off at Melksham otherwise the squad is looking good.
