Saturday is 'Derby Day' at Badgers Hill in Frome!
Rovers will be looking to erase the memories of the previous fixture with Frome Town after a 7-2 demolishing at The Winterfield Stadium back in October. A strange result that didn't reflect 95% of the game. From 2-0 down, we clawed the game back level in the 70th minute through a Fin Haines brace and up until the 84th minute, looked the more likely team to grab the winner. Frome scoring their third against the run of play was a crushing blow and the team's fortunes crumbled as everything Frome did after that seemed to turn to gold.
After a stuttering start to the season, Frome have gone on to be one of the main challengers for the top spot. After their last minute victory at Bristol Manor Farm on Tuesday evening, they now sit in third place in the table, three points behind Wimborne but with a game in hand. They are particularly strong on home soil but both Wimborne and Melksham have taken a point away from them in recent weeks.
As we know, our own from has been decidedly inconsistent this season. The last few weeks have seen victories against Exmouth and Yate sandwiching heavy away defeats. Saturday's draw with Mousehole has been regarded as one of the best performances of the season so far. But even this game highlighted the inconsistencies. From 1-0 down to lead 3-1 only to, again, concede late goals. But for at least an hour, Rovers were well on top.
The squad has some mixed news. Returning from suspension is defender Sam Pashen but Dan Cottle begins his suspension after his controversial sending off on Saturday. Wayne Nderemani makes a welcome return to training after his long layoff after picking up an injury in the abandoned Bashley game.
No doubt, the size of the task is huge, but with extra incentive and plenty of support, we can go to Badgers Hill with confidence!
