Update: The pitch has passed the Friday evening inspection and so all is looking good for the game to go ahead
Saturday afternoon sees Mousehole AFC make the long journey up from Cornwall to visit us at The Winterfield Stadium.
Our guests were promoted to the Southern League Division One after winning the Western League Premier Division last season and, buoyed by success, spent the early weeks of this season leading the way. Since the latter end of October their form has taken somewhat of a dip and they slipped to 13th in the table. Since the beginning of December, they have stabilised and currently sit in 9th place. Their most recent result was a 2-2 draw with bottom placed Exmouth Town on Boxing Day.
Our most recent two games at The Winterfield Stadium have been victories over Exmouth and Yate Town but that contrasts with two heavy defeats in the previous two away games. The most recent being the 5-1 defeat at the hands of Willand Rovers on Saturday. Player manager, Kyle Tooze, has been quick to note that during this rebuilding process there will be some inconsistent results and not being able to field a consistent team due to injuries and suspensions hasn't helped. A good run of home form could begin to make the difference though.
Sam Pashen, who missed the defeat at Willand through illness, will be suspended this week after his sending off against Yate, however, Martin Lenihan will return to the squad after his suspension.
As always, we love to have your support for another difficult fixture!
Please keep an eye out here and on social media for news of the game. The pitch will be assessed on Friday after the recent deluge of rain!
