Preview by Jon Green
This Saturday, we make the short trip to Westbury Utd hoping to beat the rain that halted our previous fixture with Bashley FC.
Westbury sit in 12th position of the league with 12 points having played one game more. Much like Rovers, their form has been a little indifferent so far this season and their last five league matches include one win, two losses and two draws. However, both losses have been narrow 3-2 defeats and the victory was against current league leaders, Wimborne. Their most recent fixture, played this week, was in the Wiltshire Premier Shield where they defeated Corsham Town after a penalty shootout.
Assessing our own form going into the match is difficult. A poor run was ended by a great performance at Bristol Manor Farm last week, but this week's match with Bashley gave few signs of how the team were able to follow up the win. The pitch was so heavy that both teams struggled to find any sort of decent performance.
The corresponding fixture last season saw Rovers come away with a narrow 1-0 victory with the goal scored by Ed Butcher. That goal can be seen here: https://youtube.com/shorts/zQoskEVp_og?si=o48-6k6oTfsGO4qe
Lets hope the weather is kinder this week but we advise to keep an eye out here or on social media for information on whether the game is going ahead.
