Preview by Jon Green with Tony Walsh
League leaders, Willand Rovers, are the visitors to Winterfield Road on Bank Holiday Monday.
Rovers go into this game having won their first point of the season away at Bemerton Heath Harlequins on Saturday. A game that was almost a carbon copy of the scoreless draw with Wimborne Town last weekend (in the FA Cup) when plenty of chances were created to win the game, but the efforts weren't quite clinical enough to score. Nevertheless, it was a very encouraging performance and Rovers took a point that lifted them off the foot of the table.
Willand Rovers have had the perfect start to the season so far by winning their first three games, scoring eight goals in the process and conceding none. Victories over Hamworthy, Tavistock and Bishops Cleeve have seen them go to the top of the table with the only perfect record so far. Their squad boasts ex-Rovers players Adam Kelly and keeper George Burton who once played with Rovers as a young lad.
Rovers welcome back Jack Dancey who has missed the previous two games. The fitness of David Slade will assessed before the game after he missed the trip to Bemerton Heath Harlequins.
This will definitely be a tough test for Craig Loxton and John Durbin's team but one that should give them massive confidence for the rest of the season should they get a result!
