Rovers' league campaign gets underway on Saturday with a clash against Melksham Town and after losing the previous fixture at Winterfield Road back in March they will be relishing the chance to make amends. Rovers come off the back of a morale boosting win in the FA Cup last Saturday when they defeated Thatcham Town 5-1 (highlights here). Melksham similarly won their cup clash, 4-2, having made the long trip to Cowes Sports FC.
Both teams have made significant changes over the early summer months and amongst the new Melksham line up could be ex-Rovers star, Nuno Felix; scorer of one of the goals of the season at Slimbridge last season. Nuno was announced to have moved to Melksham back in June having spent a previous spell there.
Martin Lenihan returns to the Rovers' squad after missing the Thatcham game although Dan McBeam will sit out; this being the final game of his suspension.
Plenty of goals in pre-season and the opening fixture have whetted the appetite of the Rovers' faithful and we will be hoping for a great start to the league campaign!
