The hosts had been free scoring the the first two games of the pre-season schedule but coming up against the Vanarama National League South team would be an altogether tougher test. The first few minutes showed the quick passing and movement that the visitors would impress with across the entire game.

However, it was Rovers that got the best of the early chances in the first five minutes after a good move opened up some space in the box but the resulting shot was blasted over. The opener came for Chippenham in the 18th minute, the ball being swept home after a good move down the right.

Rovers continued to work hard and found themselves with three or four more good chances in the remaining minutes of the half but couldn't force the ball home. All the while, they were managing to restrict Chippenham so despite being down at half time, they were still well in the game.

The second half began with a hatful of changes for Chippenham but it didn't seem to affect their style of play. Rovers finally took a chance early in the second half, pulling level in the 48th minute. There followed a number of changes for the home team and possibly some of the momentum was lost. The game remained reasonably level until the 71st minute when Chippenham retook the lead with a sweet shot from the edge of the box.

Rovers rocked a little and conceded again two minutes later. The extra few percent of the higher placed team started to take effect and, although Rovers toiled, they couldn't really create a good opening again. Chippenham struck a deflected fourth with the final kick of the game.

There were some really positive signs to take away from the game, especially from the first half. The lads gave a great account of themselves!
