Welcome Sam & Rick

Craig Loxton and John Durbin have made two additions to their coaching staff for the upcoming season.

Sam Downes played for Bristol City and various academies at youth level...

"I started my adult football at Mangotsfield and Bishop Sutton where I picked up a really bad knee injury at the age of 17. After a couple of seasons out of football I came back at Longwell Green. I then went back to Sutton in the same season and was part of the team that won the Premier Division in 2012/2013 and continued to play my football at there. In my time at the club I have played over 300+ games at this level. I managed the first team for a season in 2018/2019 and have supported a number of managers as a coach over the last 10 years. After having another knee operation last year this was a great opportunity for me to progress in my coaching career and complete my UEFA B Licence. I have also been involved with Paulton Rovers Development Centre over the last year. I have coached and been involved with coaching all my working life with my job doing a wide range of sessions. I am really excited for the next chapter in my coaching journey and really looking forward to being part of The Rovers family."

Goalkeeping coach, Rick Lebiedz, began at Bristol City's Centre of Excellence...

"I had 250 games in goal for Stockwood Green in the county league then a spell at Cadbury Heath in the Western League Prem in 2012. I returned to Stockwood Green then a back injury forced me to stop playing in 2014. I went on to joint manage Stockwood Green for six years from 2016. We won promotion to the County League Prem and went unbeaten in our first season. We became a stable county league prem club before coming to Shepton Mallet with Craig and John last season."

We are delighted that Sam and Rick are bringing their wealth of experience to Rovers!
